The Anchorage Municipal Assembly has introduced a new ordinance (AO No. 2025-74) that, if passed, would make it a crime to sleep or otherwise live on public land anywhere in Anchorage.

Today, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled today that cities can punish unhoused people for sleeping in public, even if they have nowhere else to go. 

The American Civil Liberties Union, the ACLU of Alaska, and 18 other affiliates across the country submitted a friend-of-the-court brief today in Grants Pass v. Johnson.
