Anchorage, AK — The Trump administration today announced the termination of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Program. The DACA program has served as a critical lifeline for nearly 800,000 young immigrants, or “Dreamers,” who came to this country as children and know the United States as their only home.

In Alaska, 40-year-old restrictions on clinics forced women who needed to terminate a pregnancy after the 1st trimester to leave the state in order to obtain the care they needed. Along with Planned Parenthood and the Center for Reproductive Rights, we filed a lawsuit to challenge the restrictions and allow woment to make their personal, private decisions without governmental interference.

Yesterday, the ACLU of Alaska filed an open records request with the Alaska Division of Elections and sent a letter to Lieutenant Governor Mallott, both about Alaska’s compliance with President Trump’s Election Integrity Commission.

Today the ACLU of Alaska and the Disability Law Center sent a letter to Sen. Murkowski asking her to stand up for Alaskan families and people with disabilities and oppose the Better Care Reconciliation Act.
