Voting is the cornerstone of our democracy and the fundamental right upon which all our civil liberties rest.
The ACLU of Alaska works to protect and expand the right to vote through legislation, litigation, and voter education. Our overarching goal is to make voting as easy and accessible as possible, and to ensure that all eligible voters have an opportunity to cast a ballot that will be counted. We strive to defeat laws restricting the right to vote, address race discrimination in voting, especially in Alaskan Native communities, and promote electoral reforms to increase access to the ballot.
