Summary

Recognizing and responding to common civil legal questions. Co-sponsored with the AK Bar Pro Bono Service Committee, Alaska Legal Services Corporation, Alaska Network on Domestic Violence, and the ACLU of Alaska.

This practical bootcamp equips attorneys with the skills to quickly recognize common civil legal issues encountered in limited scope pro bono settings and gives opportunities to network with qualified legal services providers and colleagues during the free lunch.
The training focuses on the foundational legal problems most commonly affecting low-income Alaskans, including housing, employment, domestic violence, immigration, and consumer and debt issues.
Attendees will leave with:

  • A structured framework for issue spotting
  • Knowledge of self-help resources
  • Greater confidence in providing limited scope advice outside their primary practice area

Participants will also gain insight into the volunteer support available through Alaska’s Qualified Legal Service Providers (QLSPs), including mentoring, training, brief banks, templates, and malpractice coverage.

6.5 Ethics CLE Credits
CLE# 2026031

Registration fee:

  • Free (see below)*
  • $165 (all others)

*Free registration: Attorneys who commit to accepting at least one pro bono case through a QLSP within 12 months may attend free of charge.
