On the evening of Tuesday, November 10, 2015, the City of Bethel unanimously passed two laws, Bethel Ordinances #15-33 and #15-34, to protect all city employees and contractors, including those who are gay or transgender, from discrimination. All 7 council members said that the people of Bethel deserve the best people working for them and that no one should lose their job simply based on who they are or whom they love.

The ACLU thanks Bethel City Council Member Chuck Arrsauyaq Herman for sponsoring these laws and Mayor Richard Robb, Vice-Mayor Byron Maczynski, and Council Members Leif Albertson, Zach Fansler, Nikki C. Hoffman, and Alisha Welch for saying that fairness is a Bethel and Alaskan value.
