Alaska's State Board of Education is seeking public input on a policy change that would explicitly prohibit transgender girls from playing on girls' sports teams.

We know that Alaska's prisons do not effectively stop cycles of harm, help people deal with mental and behavioral health needs, or help people and communities thrive. So what would Alaska look like if we didn't use prisons as a cornerstone of our approach to community safety?

Alaska's prisons are overcrowded and are harmful to the nearly 5,000 people incarcerated in them and their loved ones. An alarming number of them are Alaska Native people who are also less likely to be granted parole.
