Prisoner Rights Guide
The ACLU of Alaska’s Prison Project works tirelessly to ensure that our state’s jails and prisons comply with U.S. and Alaska constitutional law, and that all Alaskans who have interacted with the criminal legal system can exercise their full rights.
The Prisoner Rights Guide was developed for educational purposes. Each guide includes specific information on:
- Filing a grievance
- Filing a medical grievance
- Religious freedom while incarcerated
- Transgender rights while incarcerated
- Voting procedures for incarcerated Alaskans
These guides do not cover every area of law that might be needed to prosecute a claim. Every legal claim is different, so no guide can substitute for the expertise of a knowledgeable attorney. If you believe you may have a claim, submit an intake form here.
