The right to vote is absolutely critical. The ACLU of Alaska believes that voting should be easy and available for every Alaskan--that's why we were the backbone of the PFD Voter Registration ballot initiative in 2016. It is a common-sense statewide policy that is allowing qualified Alaskans to easily register to vote, update their address, and change their party affiliation. Our coalition includes Alaska Native corporations and community organizations, and aims to increase access to voting for marginalized populations, those who move frequently, and people living in rural and remote communities.

Status: After submitting over 42,000 signatures in January 2016, PFD Voter Registration was listed as Ballot Initiative 1 on the November 2016 ballot. It passed convincingly with 63% of the vote and is now being impliemented by the Alaska Division of Elections.
