SB 120, sponsored by Senator Peter Micciche (R-Kenai) and the Senate counterpart of HB 236, is a bill concerned with religious marriage solemnization. The ACLU has always stalwartly defended the right to religious liberty, but we are concerned with portions of HB 236 that extend past religious duties and include activities generally considered part of the public sphere--activities that may not be constitutionally protected under religious freedom.

Status: SB 120 did not advance to the Senate floor during the 29th legislative session.
