Kate Moe joined the ACLU in September of 2025 as a Digital Communications Fellow in partnership with the Alaska Fellows Program. Coming from a strong background in organizing, disability policy, and political rhetoric. Kate is excited to get her hands on working to help advance the communications department at the ACLU of Alaska, specifically by working the community organizing lens. Kate thoroughly enjoys working with people who come from various backgrounds to see what each person brings to the table.

Kate is coming fresh out of Whitman College, where she majored in Politics and minored in Rhetoric, Writing, & Public Discourse. During her time at Whitman, she worked to advance accessibility throughout the campus, specifically within the outdoor program to breakdown barriers for individuals with disabilities. Her primary academic interests surround education access, disability policy, and peace studies.

Growing up in Minnesota and Washington (state), moving up north to Alaska seemed obvious. She is very excited about being surrounded by new faces and environments she has never been around before. When Kate was graduating middle school, she asked her mom with tears in her eyes “will I ever get to write essays again?” which to answer her question, yes, but this time with a political undertone. The future is uncertain, but she has already thoroughly enjoyed her time in Alaska. Outside of work, you can find her going on long walks, biking on the coastal trail, or slumped over doing a fun craft.
